It's not what's under the hood, its how you drive the car.

Why did Victor and Harold use their educations so differently? Harold is sensitive and empathetic...and he initially blames himself for his condition.

Since when is Harold "sensitive" or "empathetic?" He KILLED Victor's brother in rage! I don't know about you, but it's my opinion that empathetic people don't kill innocent children.

On that note, Victor has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, so that's his problem, while Harold has abandonment issues.

Harold learned that it wasn't his fault he was so ugly. He learned that society shunned him because of his deformities, and instead of becoming all emo he filled himself with revenge. At least he learned and grew.

Victor on the other hand, didn't learn a thing. He only ever thinks of himself, even when he's thinking of other people, ones he loves, and society, he's thinking of himself. He doesn't understand that it's his fault. I suspect this will carry on to the very end of his life, and he will constantly assume the wrong thing and continue to make the wrong decisions.

The both pretty much suck. Harold is going about all this the completely wrong way. So is Victor. The End.

They are two completely different beings. You could ask the same question for every single student at this school. Why do we each use our educations differently? Because we are individuals, for the most part. To throw in some psychology, the nature v. nurture argument answers this one.

The monster blammed himself because he had not been corrupted by society as Victor had. Society had taught Victor that he did not have to take responsibility for his actions and he could blame it on someone else. The monster had not been exposed to this so who else is there to blame except for himself. This is the right, responsible thing to do and here the monster is acting more like a man and the man is acting like a monster.

And by the way it so matters what is under the hood in your car.
