The Things YOU Would Carry

If you were able to only carry one personal item, what would that item be?

If I was in Vietnam, I would definitely bring a picture of my family. It would remind me of what I was fighting for.

I would bring my bible so that I could always have some hope with me. Whenever I would get down, I could just whip out the Word!

I would have to agree with bob. I would have to carry a picture full of my family and friends. It would remind me of the good times, and make me work hard so i could go home to see them sooner

Gee...some method of playing music, even if just a pocket size instrument...pictures of my friends and family...a pocket Bible...my tatterd copy of Palgrave's(which is a collection of classic poetry such as Byron, Wordsworth, Tennyson, and Scott), and peanut M&M's. Probably things on the practical side too but they aren't as interesting.

Gee, Imoen. A poetry book.

Honestly, I would try not to take many things I wouldn't need. I'd like a book to keep me occupied during the long waits, but I hate rereading...

I keep wanting to say that I'd bring hygiene products like Dave Jensen, but when you think about it... war is war. If you're really out there, you're not likely to keep yourself nice and clean, anyway.

I would bring something that would remind me of my best memories like a conch from the beach. Whenever I would get scared or loney all I need is the warm memories to cheer me up and keep me clam.

I would definitely bring a Bible because it would give me comfort every time I read it!

I think that I would take Sammy Trimble as a personal item...except I would make her walk. that way, when i get bored, she can cheer me up and we can laugh at memories.

I would bring a diary to write my thoughts and events that happen in the war so that way I can let my children read able to read it and about the events that happen in the war from personal experience.

I know it seems like the typical answer to say the that I would bring my Bible but it definitely would be what I would bring. Even though God would still be with you without it and still provide comfort and peace, having my bible would just make it a lot easier. I would be able to find encouragement and joy even during all the hard times I would face and I think it would be what would really help me through.

There's a lot of things I would bring but most importantly I would carry the bible, pictures of my family for encouragement, pad of paper and pencils. Plus some of that Dr.Scholl's foot powder. Yeah, definately not into getting trench foot. Ever seen those pictures from Vietnam??? *shivers*

I would take a picture of my family and friends. They would all write a little note on the back. This would be huge morale booster when it seemed like all hope was lost. It would remind of what is back home and keep me going 'til the end

If i could only take one personal item to war with me i would probably take a letter written from my parents, so that when i am alone and mising home i could read what they wrote and feel comforted by that.
